CAMP-Chicago is proud to introduce Chitown-Chaitime series: A forum to discuss various social, political and educational issues as well as books, poetry etc over a cup of coffee or chai.
The discussions are held every four to six weeks at various coffee shops, bookstores etc. If you are interested in moderating/discussing any topic, please let us know. The initial topic in the series is in regards to the American Muslim identity.
Chitown-Chaitime: Why do they hate us?
Host: Kamran A. Memon A renowned Civil Rights Attorney of Muslim community.
Since Al-Qaeda’s devastating attack on 9/11 this was a question being asked by Americans of various faiths. Shortly after, it became a question being asked by Muslim Americans as well. What is driving anti-Muslim attitudes, discrimination and hate crimes across the U.S.? Do we have a role to play in improving our image in America, or are we simply helpless?
Join CAMP for a roundtable discussion about the causes of anti-Muslim hostility in America and what we as Muslim professionals can do about it.
If you are interested in attending, please RSVP at chicago@campnet.net as soon as possible so that we can make proper arrangements.
