March 13, 2005 to June 7, 2005
As you all know, the Chicago Muslim community donated more than ten tons of meat to the Greater Chicago Food Depository for Eid-ul-Adha. The Food Depository made the meat available to 600 Chicagoland soup kitchens, shelters and pantries. Thank you everyone for your participation in this great cause.
Now, we are launching a new Anti-Poverty Project.
Our goal is for Muslims to collect hundreds of thousands of cans of food for the Greater Chicago Food Depository, God willing. The cans will be collected between now and June 7, 2005 (National Hunger Awareness Day).
We are partnering with various Muslim organizations and businesses to collect canned protein (tuna, soup, beans), canned fruits, canned vegetables, peanut butter, pasta, rice, and cereal.
Boxes to collect donations will be made available at future CAMP events, participating mosques, Islamic schools, community gatherings and businesses.
